Experience
Working with Mari
Photography has been part of my life since before I can remember.
Growing up, I learned that a photograph isn't just an image — it's a promise. A promise that this moment, this person, this feeling won't be forgotten. That belief has shaped everything about the way I work.
I spent years in the darkroom learning the discipline of traditional black and white photography — where patience, intention, and craft matter more than shortcuts. That foundation lives in every session I shoot today, even when the work is in color.
Over the years I've photographed families, children, couples, and milestones of every kind. I'm now bringing that same documentary eye to weddings — drawn to the quiet in-between moments that tell the truest story of a day.
What It's Like to Work With Me
From the moment you reach out, my goal is to make the process feel easy and the experience feel personal.
Before your session, we'll connect so I can understand what matters most to you — not to build a shot list, but to show up knowing your story.
On the day, I'll stay close and move quietly. You won't be directed into stiff poses or asked to perform for the camera. I'll simply be there, watching for the moments that are already happening.
After your session, you'll receive a carefully edited private gallery — every image selected and finished with the same care I brought to the shoot itself.
What You Can Expect:
— A relaxed, unhurried experience from start to finish
— A photographer who listens before she shoots
— Images that feel honest, cinematic, and completely yours
— A private gallery delivered with care and intention

FAQ

Booking & Process
How do I book a session?
Reach out through the contact form and tell me a little about what you're looking for — the kind of session, any dates you have in mind, and anything else you want me to know. I'll get back to you within 48 hours and we'll go from there.
How far in advance should I book?
For family and couples sessions, 2–4 weeks is usually enough — though the more flexibility you have with dates, the easier it is to find the right time. For weddings, I recommend reaching out at least 6 months ahead, as dates fill up quickly.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes — a deposit is required to secure your date. For weddings, a 25% deposit is due at booking, with the remaining balance due before your gallery is delivered. For all other sessions, a $100 deposit holds your spot. Mini sessions are paid in full at the time of booking.
Sessions
How long does a session last?
Standard sessions run 1–2 hours depending on the type of shoot and how the day flows. Mini sessions are 30 minutes. Weddings vary based on your package and the shape of your day — we'll talk through timing when we connect.
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions take place in your home or outdoors at a location that means something to you — a favorite park, neighborhood, or anywhere you feel like yourselves. I don't have a studio, and honestly I prefer it that way. Real places make for real photos.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever makes you feel like you. Comfort matters more than anything — if you're at ease, it shows in the photos. For families and couples, try to keep outfits complementary rather than perfectly matching, but beyond that there are no rules. We can talk through it before your session if you want a second opinion.
Can I bring props or specific ideas?
Please do. If you have a theme in mind, poses you've saved, or inspiration you've been holding onto — bring it all. I love when clients come with ideas. We'll weave them in naturally alongside the moments I capture on my own.
Do you do posed photos?
Yes — posing helps give the session structure and puts everyone at ease, especially at the start. But what I'm really after are the in-between moments. The laugh that happens after the pose breaks, the glance you didn't know I caught. That's where the real photos live.
What if I'm awkward in front of a camera?
Honestly — same. And I mean that. The first 10–15 minutes of almost every session feel a little stiff, and that's completely normal. I'll never just point a camera at you and wait. We'll move, talk, laugh, and I'll give you things to do and focus on. For couples and families, I'll have you focus on each other rather than the lens — that's usually where the best shots come from anyway. By the time you've forgotten I'm there, that's when it all clicks. You don't have to be comfortable in front of a camera. You just have to show up.
What happens if it rains or we need to reschedule?
I keep an eye on the forecast leading up to every outdoor session — if weather looks like it's going to be a problem, I'll reach out ahead of time and we'll find a new date. Indoor sessions aren't affected by weather unless conditions make travel unsafe, in which case we'll reschedule with no penalty. Life happens and I'll always work with you.
Delivery
How long until I receive my photos?
Turnaround times vary by session type:
Sneak peeks (5–10 highlights) are delivered within 24–48 hours. Portrait and family sessions take 2–4 weeks, sometimes sooner depending on my schedule. Weddings are delivered in 6–8 weeks, or up to 12 weeks during peak fall and spring seasons.
I'll always keep you in the loop if anything changes.
How long are galleries available to download?
Your gallery will be available to download for 30 days after delivery. I recommend downloading and backing up your images as soon as possible. If you need an extension, reach out and we'll figure it out.
Prints & Products
Can I print my photos myself?
Yes — your photos are yours. Print them, frame them, share them however you'd like.
Do you offer professional prints?
Yes — through your Pixieset gallery you can order professional prints directly, including custom photo books. It's all built into the same place you download your images.
Travel
Do you charge a travel fee?
For any session requiring more than 30 minutes of travel from Haverhill, MA, a travel fee applies — starting at $15 for the first hour and $30 for each additional hour, mileage included. Mini sessions held at a predetermined location are exempt. For out-of-state inquiries, reach out and we'll discuss.
Weddings
Do you travel for weddings?
I cover Eastern Massachusetts and the Merrimack Valley. For weddings outside that area or out of state, reach out and we'll talk through the details — every situation is different.
Do you shoot alone or bring a second shooter?
For intimate weddings, I typically shoot solo. For larger events where a second shooter makes sense, we'll talk through it during the planning process and figure out what's right for your day.
What's included in wedding coverage?
Every wedding is different, so I offer a few packages to fit different needs:
Elopement / Micro-Wedding — $1,200–1,500.
Up to 4 hours, one location, ideal for intimate ceremonies of 20 or fewer guests. Includes a delivered gallery of 75–100 images.
Essential — $2,000–2,400.
6 hours of coverage from getting-ready through first dances. Delivered gallery of 200–250 images. A great fit for couples who don't need a full day.
Full Day — $2,800–3,200.
8–10 hours, ceremony through reception. Delivered gallery of 400–500 images. This is my flagship package.
A second shooter can be added to any package for $300–400.
Engagement sessions are $350–450 standalone, or $250 when booked alongside a wedding package — I highly recommend it as a chance for us to get comfortable together before the big day.
